Lumecca Peak IPL - INTENSE PULSE LIGHT
ABOUT INTENSE PULSE LIGHT
Lumecca Peak is a device that uses intense pulsed light (IPL) for skin rejuvenation.
IPL is also sometimes referred to as a photo facial that targets :
age spots
sun damage
pigmentation issues (vascular lesions, port-wine stains, spider veins, freckles)
pigmented lesions
rosacea
Most people see an improved skin appearance after their first session, and studies by the manufacturer show that it can deliver optimal results after 2-3 treatments, much less than competing products which typically require 4-6 treatments.
What it is | How it works | What to expect
Lumecca Peak is a breakthrough intense pulsed light (IPL) device that can deliver more power and precision for more effective results in fewer treatments. With up to 3x more energy than IPL machines in the 500-600mm range, it combines efficacy with cutting-edge technology.
Lumecca Peak delivers 25% more optical power than the original model and shorter pulse duration.
Clients can enjoy incredible results with greater comfort while we treat a variety of skin conditions with fewer sessions. Complete photo rejuvenation in 1 -3 treatments for most patients versus 4-6 treatments with standard IPL’s.
Lumecca Peak is an IPL device that can be used on a greater range of skin types (Fitzpatrick 1-4), ages and genders for a broad spectrum of skin concerns.
Along with being suitable for a broader variety of clients, it can also be used to improve the conditions of skin concerns that range from superficial discoloration to vascular issues underneath the skin.
Lumecca Peak is specifically indicated for benign pigmented epidermal lesions, including dyschromia, hyperpigmentation and ephelides (freckles), to superficial vessels, skin texture and photo-damage.
Lumecca is one of the most comprehensive devices for improving and rejuvenating the skin. It’s also incredibly effective on more difficult-to-treat skin concerns like erythema of rosacea, angiomas and spider angiomas.
Benefits of Lumecca Treatments
Lumecca enhances the skin’s tone and texture. The treatment stimulates collagen production, which is critical in maintaining the skin’s elasticity and firmness. There is also a reduction in fine lines and more youthful complexion. Patients typically report smoother and more even skin after undergoing 3 Lumecca treatments.
Targeting Pigmentation and Vascular Lesions
Lumecca is highly efficient in targeting pigmentation issues, such as sun damage and age spots, as well as various vascular lesions. These include but are not limited to, broken capillaries, small veins, and rosacea. By specifically addressing these imperfections, Lumecca helps in achieving a more balanced and uniform skin appearance.
Facial and Neck Rejuvenation
Our face, often subject to the most sun exposure, can benefit significantly from Lumecca treatments. We se diminished age spots, sun damage, and rosacea, yielding a more even and youthful facial complexion.
Hand Rejuvenation
Lumecca’s effectiveness isn’t limited to the face and neck; it also offers significant benefits for hand rejuvenation. The hands often show early signs of aging, primarily due to constant exposure to the sun. With Lumecca, we specifically target sun spots, freckles, and other forms of sun-induced pigmentation on the hands. This treatment restores a more youthful appearance to the hands, reversing the visible signs of aging and sun damage, and enhancing the overall skin tone and texture.

What to Expect During a Lumecca Session
The Treatment Process:
Before the session begins, we’ll conduct a patch test to determine the appropriate energy settings for your skin type. During the procedure we apply a cooling gel and give you protective eyewear. Next we proceed with the treatment which emits pulses of light targeting the pigmented and vascular irregularities. You may feel a sensation often compared to the snap of a rubber band against the skin. We strive to minimize discomfort, adjusting the energy settings based on your tolerance and the patch test results. The vast majority of our clients find the procedure quite tolerable.
A single Lumecca session can be completed in as little as 30 minutes, depending on the area treated. Multiple sessions are generally recommended for optimal results, usually spaced 3 to 4 weeks apart. The specific number of sessions required varies based on individual skin conditions and desired outcomes.
Post treatment, there is no significant downtime, although we recommend avoiding vigorous physcial activity which might raise body temperature for one day.
Aftercare and Recovery
After your Lumecca treatment, it’s vital for proper aftercare and recovery to ensure the best results.
Gently cleanse the skin and keep it hydrated. Avoiding harsh products or mechanical exfoliation for at least a week or two helps prevent irritation and ensures the treated area remains calm and protected.
Importance of Sun Protection and Maintenance
You must be diligent in wearing a sunscreen on the treated area immediately after and for several weeks following treatment.
Always apply a broad-spectrum SPF to shield the skin from harmful UV rays
This is a critical step in both the healing process and the maintenance of your Lumecca results.
Avoid direct sunlight as much as possible, and wear protective clothing if you must be outdoors.
Keeping up with these protective practices will support the longevity of our Lumecca outcomes and maintain our skin’s health.
Results and Efficacy
Visible Changes and Improvements
With Lumecca, visible results become apparent after the first session and optimal outcomes typically happen after multiple treatments. This photofacial treatment is highly effective at minimizing the appearance of age spots, vascular lesions, and rosacea, giving the skin a more consistent complexion and texture. The power of Lumecca’s intense pulsed light lies in its ability to target and fade these imperfections, resulting in a smoother and revitalized complexion.
Longevity of Photofacial Benefits
The benefits of Lumecca photofacials beyond the immediate cosmetic improvement typically extend several months post-treatment. Continued skin care and occasional maintenance sessions can prolong these benefits, helping individuals enjoy clearer, more youthful skin for an extended period.
Potential Complications and Considerations
Understanding and Minimizing Risks
Sun Exposure: Exposing treated areas to the sun can lead to complications like discoloration. It’s essential that we advise patients to avoid sun exposure and to use a high-SPF sunscreen following treatment to protect their skin.
Pain Management: Although discomfort during a Lumecca session is typically minimal, patients may experience a sensation similar to the snap of a rubber band against the skin. We must ensure our patients understand what to expect, and we should provide options to manage any pain.
Skin Reaction: Post-treatment, some may notice mild redness or warmth, akin to a light sunburn; these effects generally subside quickly. We inform our patients to notify us if skin reaction is severe or persistent, as this may require further medical attention.
Contraindications for IPL Treatments
Skin Type Considerations: Not all skin types are suited for IPL treatment—particularly those with darker skin tones including certain Fitzpatrick Skin Types, due to an increased risk of burns or discoloration. We must assess skin type before proceeding with treatment to ensure the patient is a good candidate.
Current Medications and Procedures:
Patients taking medications like Accutane, or sun sensitizing medication like Doxycycline and other medications are advised not to undergoe treatment.
Patients who have recently undergone procedures such as chemical peels, microneedling or Botox, might need to wait before starting IPL treatments.
